FNL Day 2

Day 2 was very similar to day 1. I was starting to get used to being on the set. People were starting to be a little nice to us. The weirdos continued to file in as well. The highlight of day 2 was meeting one of my future law school classmates. She was cast as a fan, so it was pretty cool to meet her before law school. We gave each other a hard time mostly. She was really nice at the end of the night when she offered to let me cut in front of her in line. She was already near the front and thanks to my time in wardrobe, I was at the end of the line. Unfortunately, I am too honest soemtimes. I decided to stick it out at the end of the line. Thanks Danielle, you are a cool chick! This one time at band camp...lol

Day 2 was filled with a lot of stop, start, and reshoot! I have now become quite familiar with the terminology: Pictures up! Rolling! Action! Cut! Reshoot! It is a viscious never-ending cycle. My football players are absolute clowns. They make the night entertaining to say the least. They play practical jokes on each other like crazy. They have settled into this game where on person kneels behind another person without their knowledge. Anothe rperson walks up and pushes that person over the guy that is knealt on the ground. You would think these guys were 15 again. The comical part was when the cheerleaders joined in. The first guy that "got got" by a cheerleader had a seriously bruised ego for awhile. They learned real quick not to mess with the coaches as we threatened them with their lives!

By the end of today I am pretty tired and my feet hurt!!!

Day 3...

Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can't Lose

Well, it is Sunday and I am relaxing!!!! It has been quite an interesting three days. I just do not know where to start! I suppose day 1 would be the best place to start!!! I arrived at the big tent at the set of Friday Night Lights at about 5:00pm. My call time was not until 5:30pm. I decided to use the 30 minutes people watching. There were hundreds of people lining up to be fans. This was quite an unusually diverse group of people. There were people from all walks of life. Some people were aspiring actors, some were ordinary average citizens, and then there were some CRAZY people that had nothing better to do than to make a little money. I heard a lot of talk about smoking weed, weird! Shortly after I arrived, a man shouted that he needed the coaches to wardrobe. I told him that I hadn't checked in yet. He told me that coaches didn't have to stand in line to check in, so I can move to the front. I thought, Wow! My first taste of stardom. lol I went to wardrobe and was given two outfits. The lady said that the first game was a winter game, so I would have to wear the jacket for the maroon team. Then, we would change into the the blue team and film that game. I then walked over to the football field and changed in the locker room. The whole thing was made specifically for this show. Everything was Dillon Panthers! It was pretty cool. After changing, I met the other four coaches on my team. They were all nice guys. They had all been an extra on the show at some point, some A LOT more than others. Once it started getting dark, we started to film the show. It is so cool to see this process. The director and actors set up on my side of the field and shot all of the plays from that angle. Later they would switch sides of the field and tape from that angle. needless to say, it became very monotanous. I saw the same plays over and over and over again. I was fortunate enough to meet a few of the actors who were really nice. I was amazed at how old they really are. These kids are almost 30 years old!!!! The coach was such a nice guy. One thing that I found very interesting was that not a single player on the field was in high school. Some of these guys were semi-professional football players. Most of them actually do this for a living. They get paid to play football for shows and movies. A couple of them were in the movie Friday Night Lights. They were mostly jerks the first night. They walked around cockier than the actors. We finally finished filming around 4 am. After that, I had to turn my clothes back in to wardrobe. Unfortunately, I didn't get to skip to the front of that line. After that, I had to stand in another line for an hour to check out! Yet again, I was unable to skip to the front of the line. Just like any other line, people were cutting in front of others which of course made a lot of people angry. By this time, my feet were hurting, but I sucked it up and waited to check out. During my wait I reflected on the heirarchy of the set. There were definitive distinctions between cast members as follows:

Director

Actors

Actual Football Players

Crew

Coaches

Football Player Extras

Fans.

I realized the first night that I never wanted to be a fan!!! They worked harder and got paid less than anyone!

Friday Night Lights (take 2)

Blasted!!! I wrote a long post and this stupid blog site crashed before I pushed the post button!!! I will attempt to recreate the blog, but it is never as good as the first.

A couple of weeks ago, I was playing around on Craigs List jobs, not just the personals, and found a posting for Friday Night Lights extras. I was bored and obviously had nobody to talk to at the moment, so I decided to answer the post. Long story short, I had to fill out a questionnaire online and attach a photo. I went ahead, against my better judgment, and filled out the form. Oddly enough, last week I received an e-mail about a casting call for a show. I was supposed to call a number that will give me the location and show up at 7 am wearing a business suit. Since my Outlook crapped out on me earlier in the night, I didn't get the message until 1 am. Needless to say I didn't call the number. I just figured it was a spam or a fluke anyway, so I didn't lose any sleep over it. Well, today I get an e-mail for FNL fan extras. I figured it would be a good experience, since I have never done anything like that. It sure wasn't for the whopping 56 bucks a day. lol PLus, the filming is Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights. What else am I going to do? :) I called the number on the e-mail and heard a voice message. The message was that they are receiving a lot of calls, so keep calling back. I hung up and laughed it off. I thought to myself that I would try one more time, and if I got the message I wouldn't try again. I called and a nice woman answered the phone, and explained this was my first time. She giggled and asked if I was calling about the fan extra casting. I told her yes and gave her my name. She asled me to hold on, and after a few minutes came back on the line. She had to verify my listing I suppose, but when she came back she asked me how would I like to be an opposing coach instead of a fan extra. I was like HELL YEAH! :) She asked me to commit to all three days, since there are only five coaches. I committed!!!!! :) I know there is a long shot that I will ever make it on the show, but it would be neat to see my face on TV for something positive for a change. :) Who knows, it may spark a passion for acting. hahahaha Not! Nothing is stopping me from going to Baylor Law School baby! :)

I will update my blog fri, Sat, and Sun with all of the cool stuff from FNL!!!

Well, I am off to catch up on the show. I haven't seen it since the first season, and I don't want to show up like a complete idiot! lol

Peace!

A great day in history 08/15/74

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday Dear Braaaaad
You look like a monkey
And you smell like one too!

This is what I heard when I answered the phone at 7:30 am. Mind you I was up late watching the Olympics again! lol The voice on the other end was none other than my mother. I think this ritual has gone on for probably 10 years. Bless her heart. I usually just let her sing it to my voicemail, but this year I said what the heck, I will answer the phone. :) She is sweet but predictable. :) Christmas every year, I always get a voicemail saying, " Merry Kiss My Ass." hahahahaha Mark my words, I will blog it on Dec. 25th 2008! I have received nmerous text messages and birthday wishes on Facebook. It makes me feel loved, even if I haven't even met some of them! I hope I can return the favor!

I think I am about to go check out IKEA. I need to find some small furniture for my badass but small future apartment. I am always prepared, so I am doing recon a little early! I don't really consider myself a small guy, so this should be quite interesting!!!! What is one more challenger during law school, right?

I am twitching...waiting for Merman to get his 7th Gold tonight! The Olympics have saved me! This is a horrible time for primetime television, so the Olympic stepped in and gave me some good quality TV time. After spending every night of the last four years in class or doing homework, I finally get to sit and watch TV. Boy did those writers piss me off with that strike! lol
Another day!

It's a new day...

Craig's List

Well, it has been a few days since my last post. I didn't want to bore all of you imaginary readers out there. lol I have plenty of free time at 3 am when I can't sleep, but I can't force myself to write that late at night. My brain tends to lack any real coherent thought at 3 am unless it pertains to the US OLYMPIC TEAM! It is hard to imagine how I functioned all of those years in the miltary and as a cop on the Night Shift (reminds me of a great oldie). I am increasingly becoming addicted to the Olympics. I realized last night in my state of dillusion that Michael Phelps is a MERMAN! Morgan Freeman says Michael doesn't have gills, but I am not so sure. I am in love with Kerri Walsh (Heilman) and Misty May-Treaner (Heilman). Well not in love... However, if they asked nicely, I would run off to the closest FLDS compound with them. hahahaha

Now for the real topic for today. I am so mesmerized by Craig's List. I have known about it for years, but I have never really looked at it until now. The personals crack me up!!! I bounce back and forth between Austin and Waco to see what's up. It sure seems like there are a lot of fake people on there, definitely some creepers! You can find just about anything though. Girls wanting guys, guys wanting girls, and everything in between post their interests. There is also a casual encounters section which intrigues me. There are some really strange men and women on there. I think more of the former acting like the latter! What girl really says:

I am looking for a good looking, in-shape and EXTREMELY ticklish guy who will let me tie him up and tickle torture him. I have a heavy massage table with restraints on each end. You will be stretched out on your back and spread eagled and helpless. I have very long nails, strong fingers and am an expert when it comes to tickle torture. I will quickly have you shrieking in hysterical laughter, thrashing and bucking and begging me to stop, But I'm not going to stop because I really enjoy sadisticly torturing a ticklish guy. I'll straddle your waist and fiendishly dig my fingernails into your ribcage and slowly squeeze up and down your sides, into your armpits and back up and down your sides while you go crazy. I'll tickle your feet until you are desperate for me to stop. I'll rub baby oil on your stomach and sides and tickle you fast and furiously with my nails. Email me with a pic if you would like to experience intense tickle torture. Special priority for extremely ticklish guys who hate being tickled. You guys are the most fun!

Come on really? Of course there was a picture of a hot bodied blonde in panties and a bra on there. Hey, if you are real, I apologize...come tickle me. hahhahaha

My favorite section is missed connections. I love reading them. I wonder how many actually find the person they are looking for. I secretly look to see if someone saw me out, and said, "hey, I am going to look for this dude on Craig's List!" Sigh. Nobody has mentioned me. lol

Well, I think this is enough for today. Peace out!

Last night...

The fights were awesome last night. I was disappointed in Roger Huerta's performance, but I have to give Kenny credit for being a badass. Brock Lesnar needs some jiu jitsu training!!!! GSP is the man! The party will be at my house for his next fight against BJ Penn!!!! The best part about last night was hanging out with my old partner and a couple of rookie cops from my old shift. It brought back a lot of memories of when I was young and full of piss and vinegar. You feel like Superman and ready to save the world. Unfortunately, between all of the dead bodies, drunk drivers, dope pushers, prostitutes, and wife & child abusers, you lose all of that good feeling. I hope they take advanatage of the opportunity they have and don't let the job get to them like most of us have. They somewhat look up to my old partner but an apparent belief that he doesn't like to do police work. It is sad to talk to my partner sometimes, because he has a hard time trusting anyone since I left. We knew that we had each others' backs when the shit hit the fan. He doesn't have that anymore. I pray that he stays safe out there!

On a lighter note, I am looking forward to a day on the couch watching the Olympics! :) Team USA baby!!!!

It's a new day

Well, good morning all...hahhaaha that still cracks me up. It is Saturday morning and I am just sitting here drinking a coke watching the Olympics. I feel sorrow for the USA Volleyball coach and his family. What a senseless tragedy! Typically, the coward murderer ended his own life.

I am s excited to watch the UFC fight tonight. Each month I look forward to chillin with boys and sometimes girls and watching a badass pay-per-view card. Of course I am too cheap to spend 49 bucks a month, so I will be off to Twin Peaks. The view is nice there and the televisions aren't bad either. hahahaha Go GSP!

I was watching SYTYCD finale (1st finale show) the other night, and heard a great song. It made me think of my struggle over the past years, and how I was able to fight may way through undergrad (magna cum laude), LSAT, 2 court battles and make it into Baylor Law. This song seemed so fitting for so many aspects of my life. I would like to share it with everyone. It should be the theme song for teh 2009 Spring entering class at Baylor Law. :) If you can tell me who sings it, then you get bonus points...:) Hint: It is not Bubble!!!! lol

"Feeling Good"
Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Breeze driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom on a tree
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good
Dragonfly out in the sun you know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies all havin' fun you know what I mean
Sleep in peace when day is done
That's what I mean
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me
Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Oh freedom is mine
And I know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Peace out!

Blogging virgin

Hello everyone. Welcome to my first ever attempt at blogging. I have seen a few people do this before, so I figured I was fully capable of writing down my thoughts. I thought about doing this a few years back during my insane years as a police officer, but I think I will save that time for my book. I will keep this for my friends and family to laugh at while I am working my way through school. I am sure many of my rants will be retroactive so bare with me. I love how bloggers write as though someone actually is reading this. hahahaha

I will start out with how excited I am to be going to Baylor Law School. I honestly thought I was going to end up at St. Mary's or South Texas. Not to knock those schools, because I thoroughly enjoyed my visits to both of them. They are great schools in their own right, but "The best belong at Baylor." ( I know I am cheesy.) I was a little bummed when I saw that I had to wait until Spring to start, but beggars can't be choosers. I have really felt like part of a family even though school is months ahead. I have added just about everyone of my classmates on Facebook (FB) and have spoke at least once to most of them. If I haven't talked to you, and you are reading this, please send me a message. I have gone from checking FB once every couple of months to daily!!! Thanks Baylor. lol So far, I have enjoyed talking to my classmates. This was such a great idea. I tend to be a little shy the first 5 minutes after meeting someone. :) Now I can skip all of that. I can tell I am going to make some special lifelong friends already.

Where do I live?????? Apartment hunting stalled. I have spent literally days looking online and mapping out apartments to visit. Turns out I am looking too early. I have some good prospects that I hope will be available in January. My real dilemma begins with size. I won custody of my son when he was 5 years old. He is now almost 16. My plan has always been to take him with me when I move to Waco. However, some recent events have me second guessing myself. After getting in trouble at the endof the last school year, he decided he wanted to go live with his Mom. I knew this might be trouble. I was right. He was arrested for curfew violation, public intoxication, and evading the police. Kind of crazy from an ex-cop's kid!!!! Now I am unsure what to do. He has to stay up there for his court date and it does not make sense to transfer him mid-semester. Do I really need to deal with him doing these things while I am in law school? It doesn't matter if he is with his mom or me. He is still going to do what he wants when he is away from home. I can't handcuff him to his bed 24/7, although I would love to do that! lol

This is probably too much for a blog, so I am going to close for now. If someone is actually reading this, you must be bored. hahahaha
